When Behavioral Challenges Become Too Much

Leading the Way in Kansas for Pediatric Behavioral Changes

Ten esteemed, skilled, experienced, licensed, board-certified pediatric doctors direct our three pediatric offices called, Mid-Kansas Pediatric Associates, with offices in East Wichita, West Wichita, and Derby, KS.

Each pediatrician works alongside thirteen of the most highly skilled pediatric nurses. Your child's pediatrician wants to help you and your child cope with behavioral changes. Our entire staff is highly trained in childhood behavioral changes, one of their many skills.

Childhood Behavioral Challenges

Any pediatrician or seasoned parents will tell you that your child will undergo many behavioral challenges from infancy to teen. And you will be tested by your child many times. Mid-Kansas Pediatric Associates, located in East Wichita, West Wichita, and Derby, KS, can help you.

It would be best to know the difference between expected natural changes when the child passes various milestones versus more serious behavioral changes creating challenges for you that require you to learn coping mechanisms.

Most children who turn two years old enter into what most parents describe as the "terrible twos." When a child turns three, their behaviors seem to diminish or disappear. Each milestone brings a different set of challenging behaviors. One child is not like another; what one parent experiences, another may not. We help parents understand if their child is going through a stage (milestone) or if there is an underlying condition we need to consider.

Childhood temper tantrums and the inability to sit still do not necessarily mean the child has an underlying problem. Labeling a child at any age, especially five or under, with a diagnosis is only wise if the behavior is well-researched.

The following could be behavioral concerns outside expected "normal" behavior. However, it takes a professional to diagnose and treat.

  • ADHD
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Anxiety Disorder
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Learning Disorders
  • Conduct Disorders

If you are concerned about your child's behaviors and need some help, testing, a thoughtful diagnosis, or treatment, please call one of our three clinics today and schedule an appointment with a pediatrician for help. Our pediatrician can work up a care plan for your child and work with you in learning new coping skills.
